Read our helpful guide on how to adjust your plastic glasses frames to get your perfect fit!

If you recently purchased a new pair of plastic frames, congratulations! Now comes the tricky part: adjusting them to feel perfectly secure on your face every time you put them on. It’s common knowledge that buying the right glasses is only half of the battle – it’s just as crucial to ensure your glasses or sunglasses fit correctly for maximum comfort and vision. Read on to learn essential tips and tricks to ensure you get all-day convenience from your new specs.

How to adjust plastic glasses frames: the key points

  • To make any slight adjustments to the frame, run any plastic parts under hot water or heat with a hair dryer for 30-60 seconds and then carefully bend.
  • If the frame slides down your face, bend the earpiece closer to a 90-degree angle to tighten the fit. If it hurts the back of your ear because it’s too tight, do the opposite and make it less of an angle.
  • Never try to bend or adjust any plastic frame parts without first heating up the frame. This will break them!

How to tighten plastic glasses

Frequently pushing up your glasses because they’ve slid down your nose can be irritating, but adjusting your glasses to fix this is easy.

Firstly, soak the arms of your glasses for 30-60 seconds in warm water. Then apply gentle downward and inward pressure on the end of the arms. This gives a tighter fit behind the ear, which should prevent your glasses from slipping.

HELPFUL TIP: In summer, glasses and sunglasses are more likely to slide down your nose due to factors like perspiration and sunblock. If tightening the frames isn’t doing the job, try using a gripping wax or nose pads on the nose pelts to stop the slippage.

How to loosen plastic glasses

Glasses that pinch your nose are not only uncomfortable, but that prolonged pressure can cause headaches or migraines. With a few simple steps, you can easily adjust your plastic glasses frames for a personalized fit and optimum comfort.

Firstly, ensure your hands are clean so you don’t risk damaging the frames. Then, after you’ve soaked the arms of your glasses in warm water for 30-60 seconds, gently apply upward and outward pressure on the end of the arms to achieve a wider fit.

Keep trying on the glasses, testing them out until you get just the right amount of space, as too much bending will damage your spectacle frames. Now enjoy your perfect fit!

DID YOU KNOW?

Loosening your plastic glasses seems like a complicated task, but in fact it is easily doable at home. Apply outward pressure to warmed glasses frames to gently loosen the fit.

How to adjust plastic frame glasses if they are tilted

Your eyewear plays an integral part in your eye health, so it’s essential that you adjust your glasses frames properly to ensure maximum comfort and protection. Although the process of adjustments is simple, it is essential to remember not to force the plastic of your glasses too much. Plastic is a brittle substance and can break easily if dealt with incorrectly.

If you are struggling to adjust your frames, do not fret! Visit a professional optician; they are highly capable of modifying any type of plastic frame with precision. With their expert help, you’ll be able to adjust your glasses in no time!

When to visit a professional

If you notice that one side of your frames appears higher than the other, you need to adjust the arms of your glasses (the part of the frames that hooks behind your ear). After soaking the arms of your glasses for 30-60 seconds in warm water, follow the steps below:

If the right side is higher than the left, bend the left arm down at the hinge or where the arm bends behind your ear.

If the left side is higher than the right, gently bend the right arm down at the hinge or where the arm bends behind your ear.

Serengeti Lens Technology

Serengeti is the brand the revolutionized driving sunglasses in the 1980s. Their use of technology in their lenses sets them apart as pioneers of the industry.
Why Serengeti Lenses Stand Out Above the Rest

Founded in 1985, Serengeti revolutionized the market for driving sunglasses and became the pioneer in providing precision eyewear for drivers. Serengeti is Aston Martin’s sole supplier of driving sunglasses, and they are often praised for making the driving experience more positive.

As one of the most innovative eyewear companies, Serengeti lenses incorporate three industry-defining technologies into their ultra-high-performance lenses: photochromic technology, Spectral Control®, and polarisation.

As a result, Serengeti sunglasses and Serengeti prescription sunglasses are always at the cutting edge of innovation and quality.

Why Serengeti Lenses Stand Out Above the Rest
Why Serengeti Lenses Stand Out Above the Rest

Who makes Serengeti lenses?

Corning is the company that created the brand. Due to poor financial performance, Corning considered closing Serengeti in 1984. However, fortunately, the brand was saved and sales increased from $5 million in 1985 to $62 million in 1992 with only fifty-two employees.

In September 2000, Bushnell purchased the Serengeti lenses brand. Vista Outdoor’s acquisition of Bushnell in 2013 included Bollé, Cébé, and Serengeti.

Now, Bollé Brands is the owner of Serengeti lenses and sunglasses. Bollé Brands is a company that manufactures, markets, and distributes sunglasses, gogglessafety glasses, and ski and bicycle helmets. The company is headquartered in Lyon, France, and they own the brands Bollé, Bollé Safety, Cébé, H2Optix, Spy Optic, and Serengeti.

Serengeti lenses technology

No other sunglasses company can successfully incorporate three industry-leading technologies into a single ultra-high-performance lens. That being said, creativity has always been a part of Serengeti, so it should come as no surprise that Serengeti lenses stand out for their groundbreaking innovation.

The lenses are unique, with gradually adapting photochromic lenses, natural color-enhancing, blue-light blocking Spectral Control® technology, and glare-reducing polarisation.

Photochromic

Each Serengeti lens incorporates photochromic technology at the molecular level. The Serengeti photochromic lenses automatically adjust to changing light conditions. When molecules in the Serengeti lenses are exposed to UV light, they darken and provide protection from the sun’s rays and reduce eye strain.

When light levels fall below a certain threshold, the molecules revert to their natural state and become transparent. Photochromic lenses only react when they are directly exposed to UV light, so they will remain clear at work or at home. As a result, Serengeti lenses provide exceptional vision and UV ray protection in all circumstances.

Spectral control

Blue light occurs naturally and balances our biological clock. Nonetheless, it is a significant risk factor for age-related deteriorating vision, especially with the increased use of digital devices that emit harmful light. Only natural blue light passes through with Spectral Control® Technology, which filters up to 96% of damaging blue light.

Serengeti sunglasses lenses with Spectral Control® also work as a visual equalizer to improve contrast and perception to achieve the optimal combination of colors in all lighting conditions.

They selectively control light wavelengths, by distinguishing reds, greens, and yellows like no other lens on the market. Landscapes that may appear dull become distinct, colorful, and brilliant, all while keeping your eyes at ease.

Renowned industrial designer Tucker Viemeister designed a range of sunglasses for Serengeti in the 1980s.

Polarisation

Last but not least, Serengeti lenses employ polarisation as its third technology. Serengeti believes that you should always be covered with polarised sunglasses, whether you are in a situation with a little or a lot of glare.

These creative Serengeti lenses let you see clearly in bright sunlight while also protecting your eyes from dangerous UV radiation. Glare reflected from roads, water, or snow will no longer be an issue thanks to the technology in each pair. You can finally appreciate your day wherever you are, free of glare and with great clarity.

Do Serengeti glasses have glass lenses?

Serengeti is known for paying close attention to the materials they use to ensure that your eyes are protected and that you have the sharpest vision possible. Every process and component is rigorously tested to provide the best quality and protection, from the finest and most advanced raw materials to the most cutting-edge lens coatings.

Although some lenses are plastic, many Sernegti lenses use mineral glass. Natural ingredients such as sand and soda ash are used to make mineral glass. It’s infinitely recyclable and completely safe for both humans and animals. Its optical clarity, scratch resistance, and low distortion make it one of the best lens materials on the market.

How do you clean Serengeti sunglasses?

If you want your Serengeti lenses to protect you for as long as possible, you should take some steps to ensure they last. One of the most important things you can do to extend the life of your Serengeti lenses is to clean them and keep them free of dirt and debris.

Here are the do’s and dont’s for keeping Serengeti lenses in top condition:

DO:

  • Blow loose particles off the lenses. It is important to blow loose debris off of your lenses before wiping them to avoid scratched glasses.
  • Rinse with lukewarm water. Gently run your lenses under running water to loosen up any other dirt.
  • Use a glasses cleaning spray. To clean lenses and the frame, you need to use the correct product.
  • Clean with an optical lens cloth. After rinsing, wipe your Serengeti lenses down with a microfibre cloth.

DON’T :

  • Use aggressive products. Solvents and detergents are too aggressive for Serengeti lenses and can damage lens coatings.
  • Use your t-shirt! As tempting as it might be, using anything other than a proper optical lens cloth can damage your lenses.

Other tips:

  • Store them in their case. There is no better way to keep your Serengeti lenses protected than a good case.
  • Avoid putting them loose in a bag or pocket. They are much more likely to be exposed to potentially damaging debris.
  • Be aware of where you leave them! Very cold or hot conditions like the dashboard of a car can potentially damage the lens treatments.

Conclusion

Now that you know the options available and what would be best for you, check out how you could incorporate Serengeti lenses into your life to benefit from their advanced technology!

The Best UV Protection for Your Eyes

Good UV protection should always be a priority when buying sunglasses. Get to know the different classes of UV protection to make the best choice for your eye health.
Sunglasses frames with blue background

Have you ever noticed small tags on the lenses of sunglasses when shopping? They indicate the amount of protection the frames provide from harmful UV rays.

If you find yourself confused by terminology such as UV protection, UV400 and the different percentages of UV blockage, don’t panic. We’ll give you all the information required to buy the perfect pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from these harmful rays.

What are UV rays?

Ultraviolet rays (UV) are radiation emitted by the sun.

The two main types of UV radiation are UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are more prevalent and can penetrate deeper into the skin, while UVB rays are more intense but don’t penetrate as deep.

On the one hand, exposure to small amounts of UV light is necessary for our bodies to produce vitamin D, which helps strengthen our bones. On the other hand, too much sun exposure can lead to various types of damage to the skin and eyes.

It is essential for people to protect themselves from the harmful effects of UV rays by wearing protective sunscreen and the correct type of sunglasses.

The importance of UV protection

Sunglasses are often viewed as a fashionable accessory, but their essential role in protecting eye health is frequently overlooked. In addition to elevating style, they provide crucial UV protection.

Prolonged exposure to these harmful rays can lead to serious eye damage, as these rays can alter the proteins of the eye lens. Some of these conditions include cataracts and worsening eyesight.

Over time, the damage can become irreversible, causing vision to become blurry, hazy and even less colourful.

While it is common to grab a pair of sunnies on our way out to the beach, quite often, people don’t know that UV rays can reflect off surfaces such as water, snow and buildings on cloudy days.

It is essential to wear sunglasses as often as possible and not only in the summer, as UV rays are not seasonal and cause harm all year long.

Not every pair of sunglasses has UV protection, which means just wearing a generic pair won’t protect your eyes from UV radiation.

Is UV400 the best kind of protection?

UV sunglasses are sunglasses that block UV rays from reaching your eye. There are different percentages of UV protection.

Ideally, it would be best to aim for UV400 sunglasses, as they block out all light rays with wavelengths up to 400 nanometers, as a result, blocking 100% UV rays.

With UV400 protection, you can eliminate UV exposure, making sure your eyes are well-protected and not at risk.

It is important to remember that UV protection is crucial when choosing sunglasses.

In fact, dark sunglasses that don’t provide proper protection can cause even greater damage to the eyes: In a dark environment, the pupils are dilated, allowing more UV rays to reach the eyes.

Although you should aim for 100% UV protection, these are the other categories you will find when shopping:

UV protection categories from 0 to 4

Why UV protection should start early

It is very common for young kids and teenagers not to be aware of how important it is to protect their skin and eyes from the sun. Fortunately, adults tend to be more conscious of the dangers.

That said, UV protection should start early: UV damage is cumulative and the danger grows the more time you spend in sunlight throughout your lifetime.

For this reason, it’s best to start taking precautions and keeping the eyes safe from a young age.

child wearing sunglasses in the sun

Children are at a higher risk of UV damage because they tend to spend more time outdoors; not only that, but their eyes are also more susceptible to eye damage.

Purchasing a good pair of sunglasses with UV400 protection for your children will help protect their eyes and get them into the habit of protecting them when going out in the sun.

DID YOU KNOW?

The lens of a child’s eye will allow 70% more UV rays to enter the retina than an adult.

UV sunglasses VS polarised lenses

The primary function of polarised sunglasses is to reduce light and glare. These lenses are ideal near water and are even considered the best fishing sunglasses.

Polarised lenses alone, however, do not protect from UV rays. In order to be considered UV protective sunglasses, the polarised lenses must have a UV filter. While not all polarised sunglasses offer UV protection, some can have both.

two women in front of sunglasses display trying on sunglasses

As previously mentioned, polarised lenses have a different purpose than UV400 protection lenses. This means that just getting a pair of polarized sunglasses won’t provide adequate UV protection for your eyes from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.

Are UV-protective sunglasses expensive?

Fortunately, UV protection glasses come in a wide range of prices.

The range is so wide partially due to different brands having different prices, and partially due to the fact that there are many features that can add to the price.

From polarising and blue light filter lenses to prescription lenses, many factors play into the final cost of the product.

If you’re worried that buying a good pair of sunnies with excellent protection will cost you a fortune, remember there are many affordable options on the market. Protecting your eyes does not have to be expensive.

And if you have any more questions about the effect of UV rays to eye health, feel free to reach out to dispensing opticians–they’re here to help

Goggles can make your experience in the water much more comfortable. Follow this advice to ensure you get a pair that suits you.
What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles

Have you ever left a swimming session with bloodshot eyes, rings around your eyes from your goggles fitting too tightly, or felt uncomfortable wearing your goggles in the sea for fear of getting saltwater in your eye because of a poor fit?

The swimming goggles you choose are crucial. Similar to prescription glasses on land, they improve your underwater vision and safeguard your eyes.

It’s crucial to understand the different types of goggles available since many work for certain uses and have a particular fit. If you are not knowledgeable on the topic, finding what you want can be overwhelming or frustrating.

If you are a competitive swimmer, you need to perform your sport at your best, without obstacles. Aside from the more serious swimmers, even if you simply use your swimming goggles leisurely in the sea or pool, you equally want no obstacles to your fun!

What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles
What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles

We have some tips for choosing the right goggles to feel happy with your purchase. Continue reading to solve your doubts and determine what to look for when buying swimming goggles.

Top things to consider for the best swimming goggles

Ahead of choosing your swimming goggles based on the look and brand name, you should first run through a checklist of the aspects that will ensure they will work perfectly for you.

What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles
What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles
DID YOU KNOW?

Most problems people encounter with their swimmin ggoggles can be traced back to a poor or incorrect fit.

Correct fit

The fit is one of the most important aspects when shopping for your new goggles. Even if they’re a  great-looking pair of swimming goggles, they’ll have no use if they leak water into your eyes because they are the wrong size. Contrary to the belief that the strap determines the size, it’s actually the seal on the goggles.

Thankfully, you can shop with confidence with SmartBuyGlasses, knowing we offer a 100-day returns policy. So, if your goggles aren’t perfect, you can send them back to us and choose another pair!

Comfort

Many goggles include adjustable nosepieces, but if you adjust and they’re still excessively tight or press on the bridge of your nose, you may need to opt for a different pair.

While your swimming goggles may fit snugly over your eyes, a lack of comfort over your nose can be quite uncomfortable. As noted previously, the strap has little to do with the seal around your eyes and the water flowing in.

Excessively tight goggles will put pressure on the areas around the eyes, making swimming with them an unpleasant experience.

Split straps are now common on goggles, and they hold them in place better than a single strap. Split straps are convenient if you plan on swimming fast or turning quickly in the water.

What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles
What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles

Size

When it comes to the size of the gasket (lenses), the smaller the better to have less resistance in the water. However, they must also be comfortable, so don’t get too caught up in this. After all, there is no use in having less resistance in the water if you are slower because your field of vision is not clear.

You should also consider how they sit on your face and any possible nuisances. People experience an issue with swimming goggles: their eyelashes brushing against the lenses or the strap hurts their head. If you prefer going the distance rather than just a quick swim, minor nuisances may turn into big ones.

Do they fog?

Anti-fog and UV protection are now standard on nearly all goggles. If this is not the case, they should come at a much more affordable price. A thin anti-fog coating on the inside of the lense of good goggles should not be disturbed.

This coating should stay for a while. However, they typically lose their anti-fog characteristics over time, but luckily there are other ways to keep them fog-free!

What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles
What to Look for When Buying Swimming Goggles

How to keep swim goggles from fogging

If your swimming goggles fog up, you can invest in an anti-fog spray made for swimming goggles, similar to what you may see for glasses. As a last resort, you can also spit into them or lick the insides with your tongue before putting them on your eyes. Yes, it sounds strange, but it is a genuine tip to avoid fogging.

How to properly fit swim goggles

For a proper fit, your goggles should sit comfortably on the bridge of your nose and create a seal around your eyes without any gaps.

Testing the correct fit

  • Test the seals: Gently push the eyepieces of the goggles onto your face without the strap around your head. They’re an excellent fit if they have enough suction to stick to your face for 3 to 4 seconds. Look for a smaller size if they pop off.
  • Check the nose bridge: Make sure it sits comfortably on your nose without excessive pressure or squeezing.
  • Try different shapes: The majority of goggles have oval lenses, but some people don’t find them to be a good fit and opt for another style. Play around until you find ones that you feel good in.

What are Gaming Glasses

What are gaming glasses and how do they really work is a very frequent question we hear, well here’s a little insight…Wonder what it’s like to game with fewer eye irritations and distractions? According to gaming statistics by statista.com, there are an astonishing 3.24 billion active gamers.

With these statistics rising, and competition increasing, there are still many gamers unaware of how much eye health radically impacts their gaming efficiency. It’s not just about your vision…

Technology is developing and so is the way we game. If you’re looking for ways to change the way you play, to compete with rarer eye annoyances, then read on to find out the keys to the performance that gamers wish they had known before.

In this article, you will have all of your gaming glasses questions answered. We will touch on what gaming glasses do, what they’re used for, what the best gaming glasses are, and how your eye health may skyrocket when using them, whilst fixed at a screen.

What are gaming glasses and what do gaming glasses do?

What are Gaming Glasses
What are Gaming Glasses

Gaming glasses are eyewear that has been specifically crafted for those who game. From the body of the frames to the lenses of the gaming glasses, these factors contribute to making gaming glasses what they are, and to help gamers perform to the best of their ability due to fewer eye irritations.

Gaming glasses have been primarily made to reduce blue light exposure, to avoid digital eye strain, and reduce glare with their anti-glare lenses. Gaming glasses come with yellow-tinted lenses, which is also one of the biggest contributors that enable gamers to play harder and to achieve more, which we will discuss later in the article.

So, what do gaming glasses do? There are a few key elements involved in gaming lenses that play different roles into what they do.

Finding the best gaming glasses is a great idea if you spend hours a day behind a screen. Gaming glasses are similar to computer glasses, both working to filter out blue light emitted from screens on common pieces of tech.

They work by neutralizing the hue of blue light with a warmer tint. The lenses also enhance colors on the screen, as well as decrease glare from their anti-glare lenses, which is one of the most common complaints by gamers.

If you decide to game without a pair of Gaming Glasses that protect you from blue light, you’re increasing your chances of digital eye strain, lack of sleep, and a potential increase in headaches.  Sleep is the key to the body rejuvenating itself, and without it, we lack concentration, and our ability to do normal daily tasks can be impacted.

Gaming lenses also come with computer radiation UV400, which completely eliminates UV exposure to your eyes. Long exposure to these UV rays could cause short and long-term damage to your eyes.

Long-term effects of not wearing UV400 protection could include damage to the retina, cataracts, or even cancer to the eyes or eyelids.

Overall, the aim of gaming glasses is to protect the eyes, as well as helping you to see colors vividly. The glasses are also popular as they reduce glare, and come with comfortable frames and nose pads that hug the face, allowing you to game to the best of your ability, due to fewer interruptions.

DID YOU KNOW?

The yellow tint that gaming glasses have lowers color intensity on the screen, allowing for clearer vision.

Why are gaming glasses yellow?

What are Gaming Glasses

In comparison to a clear lens, a yellow-tinted lens can filter up to 65% of blue light. The yellow lens is also the ingredient to minimizing screen glare, due to the added anti-glare coated lenses.

This is not something a clear lens will do. A yellow lens will also lower the intensity of the colors radiating from your screen, which will allow you to see clearly when gaming.

What are gaming glasses used for?

Gaming glasses are commonly worn for intense gaming sessions, and for professional gaming, typically used with computer screens.

What are Gaming Glasses
What are Gaming Glasses

Gaming glasses are recommended for anyone who spends over a couple of hours a day consistently fixated at a digital screen with no breaks in between.

Gaming glasses aren’t just for those who play with computer or tv screens, they are also commonly used for all digital devices that you can game on. This could also include gaming on an iPad or smartphone.

Eyes need to be protected no matter what device is being used, and if you can increase your performance due to increased eye protection, then you can see why gaming glasses are worn by so many.

How do gaming glasses work?

What are Gaming Glasses
What are Gaming Glasses

If you can imagine a person gaming for numerous hours without gaming glasses, compared to someone with gaming glasses, then the results would be evident.

Someone who plays games without gaming glasses is highly likely to have to take regular breaks due to feeling fatigued from lack of sleep and increased headaches (potentially because of blue light).

They may also have significant interruptions whilst gaming, such as eye rubbing and blurriness, due to digital eye strain. All of these factors in small snippets can affect your gaming performance, and if you’re gaming professionally, these side effects can cause big devastation.

Do gaming glasses ruin your eyes?

There are no negative side effects to wearing your gaming glasses, in fact, only positive with the blue light, anti-glare, and UV protection they provide.

You can use your gaming glasses without a prescription, however, if you need a prescription and use your gaming glasses without prescription lenses, it might cause you eye strain and increased headaches.

At SmartBuyGlasses, you’ll be able to add your personal prescription at checkout to all gaming glasses, to avoid these potential problems.

Which glasses are best for gaming?

Some gaming glasses come with clear lenses or almost unrecognizable tinted lenses. The key is to have all the benefits with your gaming glasses.

For this, it’s highly recommended to make sure that your gaming glasses are blue light protected, have a visible yellow/orange tint to the lenses, are durable, crafted from high-quality materials, and are made for comfort. Without these elements, gaming glasses simply wouldn’t be gaming glasses.

Conclusion

Gaming glasses have been made to increase eye protection, which allows you to game as intensely as possible with no eye irritations.

The science-based lenses have been made to improve sleep and digital eye strain, from reduced blue light penetration, and a UV block of 100%. If you game for fun or professionally on any digital device and are looking to play with maximized power, then gaming glasses could be the solution for you.

Horn-rimmed glasses are some of the most iconic silhouettes in the eyewear world. Since their invention, the term ‘horn-rimmed glasses’ has come to encompass a pretty large variety of different glasses frame styles. Ray-Ban is probably the best-known manufacturer of horn-rim glasses frames with their wayfarers, but there are definitely some other big-name players out there looking to take their crown. So, while you may have some idea of what a pair of horn-rimmed glasses look like, it might be quite a bit different than what you imagine.

Before we take you through the ins and outs of horn-rimmed glasses (as well as some of our faves from SmartBuyGlasses right now), it’s worth getting to know what exactly makes your average pair of horn-rimmed glasses… horn-rimmed.

What Are Horn-Rimmed Glasses?

So, you’ve made it this far. You’re clearly pretty interested in horn-rimmed glasses. It’s time to delve into their origins, aesthetics and features, so you can learn more about them before you get yourself a pair.

To start, look at the front of some horn-rimmed glasses and check out where it meets the glasses’ temples. If that meeting point between the temples and front extends horizontally (but NOT vertically) past the outer part of the frame, then you’ve found yourself a nice pair of horn-rimmed glasses. They’re typically characterized by their bold appearance on their wearer’s face. As opposed to metal frames, horn-rimmed glasses tend to appear less pronounced.

While they started off as being made from actual horn, their name actually bears no relevance to their material. For most of their history, they’ve generally been constructed out of thick plastics designed to imitate horn, ivory or tortoiseshell. Instead, it’s all about those pointy bits of the frame that give their trademark shape a ‘horned’ appearance.

Horn Rimmed Glasses (Women’s)

Women’s horn-rimmed frames are a super-stylish way to work some hipster, vintage or 1950s style into your wardrobe. There are some really good models in our catalogue, but it may also be worth checking out some men’s glasses; after all, the lines by which fashion is gendered are blurring all the time!

These translucent hipster horn-rimmed glasses are probably the closest thing to actual ivory horn frames on the market right now. They’re finished really nicely, with soft acetate full-rim frames that add a touch of cool luxury to an otherwise unassuming frame.

These amazing Guess glasses show why the LA-based fashion leaders are riding the crest of the wave in the eyewear market right now. With a cool mix between translucent pink and wild havana coloring, these full-rim horn glasses are an incredibly fun hipster fashion option for 2020.

These retro horn-rimmed glasses from SmartBuy Collection are an amazing-value choice for anyone looking to jump into the world of horn-rim style. These specs have some classy silver accents which beautifully complement their glossy acetate full-rim frames. Like the rest of the glasses from SmartBuy Collection, they provide an amazing high fashion alternative at really low prices.

Horn Rimmed Glasses (Men’s)

Men’s horn-rimmed glasses offer some amazing retro-style eyewear options for any guy’s wardrobe. We’ve selected three of our favorite men’s designs from huge brands like Ray-Ban and more!

Ray-Ban Clubmasters. Arguably the last word in Ray-Ban horn-rimmed glasses, these retro designer frames are a personal preference for this particular genre of eyewear. This particular colorway features cool tortoiseshell detailing on slick gold full-rim frames. It’s a design classic, what more can we say?

Another huge name in the horn-rimmed glasses market, Tom Ford has squeezed their trademark design quality into these glasses. With branded ‘T’ detailing on those horns that we’ve talked so much about, these black full-rim glasses are unmistakably Tom Ford. Plus, they feature blue light glasses technology, which studies have suggested can be really beneficial for minimising eye strain and improving your sleep cycle!

These full-rim Bert glasses are one of our fave designs from Arise Collective. They bring a mix of vintage and modern looks with transparent brown acetate frames. These glasses are a big fashion statement for a small price; they’re one of hundreds of great value frames from Arise Collective, and that’s why we love them.

The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Glasses Frames

The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Glasses Frames

Vintage glasses aren’t just a nod to the past; they’re a timeless trend that continues to make waves in the world of eyewear.

Opting for vintage frames is an awesome way to elevate a simple look and express your personality.

Why choose vintage glasses frames?

Timeless style

There’s something about vintage glasses that simply never goes out of style—whether it’s the sophisticated air of the 1950s or the daring boldness of the 1980s.

It’s like wearing a piece of history, but in a way that feels forever cool and always keeps you looking on point.

Quality craftsmanship

Back in the day, things were made to last, and vintage glasses frames are no exception. These frames are crafted with care and often by hand using high-quality materials and techniques.

By choosing vintage, you’re investing in durability and luxury which modern eyewear can sometimes lack.

Unique designs

Today’s sunglasses collections present the same mass-produced designs unlike vintage frames that offer distinctive shapes, intricate patterns and unexpected details.

These unique pieces allow you to express your individual style and stand out from the crowd.

Sustainability

By picking a pair of vintage frames, you help the planet. Reusing and recycling vintage glasses reduces waste and cuts down the need for new resources.

Plus, it’s a fashionable way to promote recycling—talk about looking good while doing good!

Vintage cat eye glasses

Vintage cat eye glasses are a classic style that has been popular since the 1950s thanks to their association with various Hollywood style icons of the time.

They’re known for their unique, upward sweeping corners that can make any outfit look a little more glamorous.

Even today, these glasses remain a favourite because they have a special way of adding an elegant twist to your look.

woman wearing vintage cat eye sunglasses

Modern brands like Tom Ford and Prada have given the cat eye style a fresh update. Tom Ford‘s versions are bold and thick, mixing the old-school charm with a new, sleek feel.

These glasses come in many shapes and materials, making it easy to find a pair that fits just right and looks great as eyeglasses or sunglasses.

Prada takes a more daring approach. Their cat eye glasses often feature dramatic shapes and cool colours or patterns. Their glasses show off fancy details that can turn a simple pair of glasses into a standout accessory.

Gucci is one of the recognised brands for creating iconic oversized frames. Their styles are typically crafted from high-quality acetate or metal.

From elegant rounded designs to bold square frames, they offer a distinct mix of vintage glamour and modern sophistication.

Oversized vintage frames work for both prescription glasses and sunglasses, providing functionality and undeniable flair. They’re a fantastic choice for anyone who wants their eyewear to be as big of a statement as their favourite shoes or bag.

Whether you want to add to your colour palette, try out a new frame design, or cover up your watery and itchy eyes (ah allergies!), we’ve got you covered.

Let’s take a look at the spring eyewear trends for 2022 through mood-boosting, fun, and fashionable styles for the whole family!

Fly freely with butterfly frames

Ladies and gents, get ready to cause ‘butterflies’ this spring.

The butterfly frame shape provides full coverage and a chic appearance to break free from the cocoon to express your individuality. Just like cat-eye sunglasses, butterfly frames complement facial features by smoothing and lifting them. If you’re trying to figure out if these frames will suit your face shape, we can assure you that butterfly sunnies suit square, heart-shaped, and oval faces.

The Vogue VO4197S and Marc Jacobs 500 are in full bloom this spring with refreshing green pastel hues. Get that spring feeling with these delicate shades!

Cinderella nearly missed the ball, but your little one won’t miss this pair of fashionable Disney D0309A Asian Fit Kids PJP. They are equipped with UV protection so kids can chase butterflies all day long on a sunny spring day.

Geometric shapes for spring

This spring, forget your summer body worries and instead get in shape with fun, innovative eyewear for men and women. Vamp up your style with geometric sunglasses that will match any look.

Geometric frames add something new and versatile to your style and are great for diverse faces shapes. If you find it hard to rock classic round or square glasses, change up the shape!

The Chloe CE 143S vibrant pink thin metal frames bring back the ‘60s vibe of Peace & Love and are great to combine with a floral dress. Or, opt for the Ray-Ban RB3556N Octagonal style with gold metal frames and cool blue gradient lenses to rock at any casual or formal occasion.

Smartly rounding up your spring eyewear

Don’t limit yourself to just sunnies to change up your look. Try out sleek and fun round eyeglasses this season! Round frames cater to angular faces and create a contrast worth showing off. Don’t believe us? Try countless round glasses styles using our Virtual Try-On.

How about SmartBuy Grosmorne L120 for a lightweight metal frame in red rose gold? These are a great pair to add a delicate touch to your office or stay-at-home look. Trust us, you’ll be looking smart this spring.

Why not browse through kids’ eyeglasses and try a colourful pair of SmartBuy Kids Rhi K7A? They are a flexible, lightweight, and hypoallergenic (one less allergy to worry about) pair of quality glasses at an affordable price. Your kids will love them!

If you are looking for a convenient 2-in-1 pair, then spring clip-on sunglasses are perfect! Check out  Ray-Ban RX5228C Clip-On 2501B7 for sunglass lenses that clip onto your Ray-Ban eyewear in a snap.
